Art, Atmosphere, & Attitude

Posted on Dec 20, 2007

Looks like we’ve got another big storm on the way in. Another foot of snow by Saturday night and though our roads are clear finally and now, we’ve still got that first 18 inches still sitting in the fields and the back driveways, etc. though it’s melted a bit so it’s only about 10 inches now. Still, add another fresh foot to that? Husband went into town tonight to pick up stuff and I forgot to tell him to get egg nog! We’ve got rum and brandy but what good is it without eggnog? Oh dear.

Well, I got my first real-estate quiz back today. I totally expected to ace it—I was so sure of myself. I was actually expecting 100%. I have to re-take it! I failed. No kidding. I got less than 75% (they did not tell me how much less). OK, I’ve been complaining all along that they give you trick questions, and they do, but then again, it’s my job to know things in and out and make no mistakes. Geez. I was hoping to get my second quiz done by the end of the week but now it’s back to first grade! No matter. I will get through this—it’s just a lot of remembering exact, obscure details....such as—“the governor can appoint members to the real estate commission”—I KNEW that (really, how hard is that?)—but then they added “with the approval of the legislature.” Just the thing you think would make sense. But no, he does not need their approval. So that makes it a wrong answer. See what I mean?

So therein comes attitude. I am disappointed at my score but I am bound and determined to improve it. Plus—I think I really needed an art studio day or two to get my right brain back up to snuff, then it can help out the other side in a day or two.

We have been invited to eL Studio for Christmas dinner and we will partake. We will also cook our own Christmas dinner, here, as planned, the day or so after. We require our own leftovers, particularly dressing and gravy!!

Then we might have guests (they’re on my calendar but they are unpredictable). Whatever.

On January 9th we’re headed out to Georgia for the Booth Western Art Museum (no relation) exhibition & reception. They’re going to get us artists on stage for a panel discussion. Real Estate tests do not frighten me (even if I have to take them twice!). Panel discussions on stage about art do. Still, even if I’m a geek, I’m going to say I’ll participate. Hope I don’t say anything dumb. Ha, ha, hope I’m able to speak at all!

Oh, almost forgot, have a bunch of paintings down in Santa Fe at Exit Real Estate office. We’re having an opening December 29th. I don’t expect much from it but you really never know. I’ve been appointed the “coordinator” –-there are four or five other artists in the show. And I’ll just be nice and keep my thoughts about the bulk of artwork up on Canyon Road to myself.
