Another Museum Show?

Posted on Apr 8, 2008
Maybe I am destined to be a museum artist rather than a gallery artist. I currently have no complaints with that. Maybe that’s so much more the desired path." I think I’m turning museum, I think I’m turning museum, I really think so." (reference The Talking Heads for my poorly plagerized line.)

My first Museum was way back in the early 90’s when I got a piece in a juried show at the Alaska Museum of History and Art. My second one was the one you all are most familiar with, the Booth Western Art Museum. The third appears to be (or might be, I’m not accepted into an exhibition yet, but I did get a favorable response today from a curator there) The Desert Caballeros Museum in Wickenburg, Arizona. They do an exhibit every year called “Cowgirl Up! Art from the Other Half of the West.” OK, now you all know I just MUST be in that show, it is right up my alley, I provide a bit of a spark—I’m traditional with a contemporary twist—they need me! It looks like what they exhibited last year was pretty much traditional fare—competent work but nothing really engaging, or new, or exciting. Maybe I canbe  a big spark to that show as my work certainly crosses that line, whilst still having a foot in a bit of the traditional. Well, depending on whom you consult with. I think we’re a perfect fit.

Cross your fingers. And let’s get out into the sun and onto our horses!
