The gallery floor is going in! We’re both so excited. We’re laying in pine planks, 1” x 6,” diagonally. It’s going to look so great! Leonardo has about a quarter of it cut and laid out already. I picked up another batch of planks as I had to run into Española this afternoon.

It is, however, too blonde. (We’re not even going to go into blonde jokes, or all the people I know who are blonde and dumb, or anything like that.) The floor is lighter than the vigas. For good interior home design we need to tie things together. My husband posited the problem to me this evening. My solution? Not that I know anything about the specifics of wood coloring but my proposal, and with his experience he agreed this would be a good first take: I said—let’s stain it “cherry,” then oil it, and then seal it, and then see how we like it. Whew! He thought it a good idea! So that’s the plan. And I KNOW cherry stain never actually stains dark like cherry. It’s ALWAYS much lighter than you want....so—we’ll let you know how it all works out.

The Essential Guide’s owner stopped by today with a final proof of our ad—wow! Does that look teriffic! We were quite pleased with it....and she said four people have called her office already to find out where our gallery is! This is quite amazing as obviously, the Guide won’t be printed and distributed until mid-May! We’re just on their web site! So....the sooner we get the gallery open down there the better.
I’m not even hanging around here—I’m helping Leonardo at the house. I think we’ll be able to open up down there by the end of the week.
